In the context of burgeoning unemployment in the country, the management institutes need to inculcate the spirit of self-employment among the young generations, Dayananda Sagar College of Management and information Technology (DSCMIT) conducted a program on “Entrepreneurship Lecture Series” and instituted Dayananda Sagar institution entrepreneurial awards on 2nd, 3rd & 4th of December 2008. The award distribution function is scheduled on 5th December 2008 at 6.00 pm.
The inaugural function was on 2nd Dec. at 11.00 clock. The welcome address was given by Dr. K R Mukunda Director - DSCMIT. In his welcome address he mentioned that a formal management education helps an entrepreneur to make right decisions at the right time. The program was inaugurated by Sri Galiswamy Secretary MGVP Trust. Sri. R Janardhan Senior Executive Vice-President of DSI and the first speaker of the series was gave the presidential address. In his address to the students he mentioned that entrepreneurship like management skills can be learnt and it gets imbibed in an individual to become an entrepreneur. On the second day,
Sri. K L Rao director, MSME development institute spoke on promotion and development of SMEs. He highlighted that there is plenty of opportunities for an entrepreneur to start his own enterprise where he will have satisfaction and create value for society. The third lecture was by Sri. Srinivasan, former director general of CII he spoke on venture capital and focused on the need of understanding the cash flow and proper maintenance of transactions of finance at micro and macro levels. Mr. Srinivasan also narrated some examples of successful venture capital list who have invested in India. He called up on the students to work on innovative ideas and enter non-traditional areas where growth can be faster. Giving lecture on the third day Prof. Shivkumar spoke on entrepreneurship in the post-meltdown era. He expressed that there is scope for entrepreneurs even at this point of time and India will not get bogged down in spite of the global meltdown concerns. DSCMIT MBAs showed enthusiasm in becoming entrepreneurs. They also felt the need of their contribution to the society in creating employment opportunities.
